Andile Jali is a South African professional footballer who was born on 10 April 1990 in Matatiele, Eastern Cape.
Early Life and Career
Jali grew up in Matatiele and started playing football at a young age. He joined local amateur club, Batau FC, and it wasn't long before his talent was noticed by professional clubs.
In 2009, Jali was signed by National First Division team, Pretoria University. He impressed in his debut season and was soon promoted to the first team as a regular starter. Jali's performances caught the attention of Orlando Pirates, one of the biggest clubs in the country, and he joined them in 2011.
The Orlando Pirates Years
Jali quickly became a fan favourite at Orlando Pirates. He was known for his tough tackling, physicality and ability to control the game from midfield. He helped Pirates win numerous trophies, including back-to-back league titles in 2011 and 2012.
Jali also caught the attention of the South African national team and made his debut in 2010. He went on to become a regular starter and played for South Africa in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, where they finished as runners-up.
Move to Europe
In 2014, Jali made the move to Europe and signed for Belgian club, KV Oostende. He had a successful spell there, helping the team win the Belgian Cup in 2017. Jali was also named in the Proximus League Team of the Season for the 2016/2017 campaign.
Jali's performances in Belgium attracted interest from other European clubs, but he decided to return to South Africa and joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018.
Jali is currently 31 years old and still playing for Mamelodi Sundowns. He has had a successful spell at the club so far, helping them win the league title in the 2019/2020 season. Jali is still a key player for both Sundowns and the South African national team, and his tough-tackling and physicality make him a valuable asset on the pitch.
