How to Identify an MTN Number
Similar to identifying Vodacom numbers, there are several ways to identify if a number is MTN:
- If the first two digits of the number are 06 or +27 6, then it is an MTN number.
- If you have an MTN SIM card, you can dial 141 to check your airtime balance, and if the number is an MTN number, you will receive a notification confirming that the number belongs to MTN.
Other Mobile Networks
There are several mobile networks in South Africa, other than Vodacom and MTN.
- Cell C: If the first two digits of the number are 08, it is most likely a Cell C number
- Telkom: The first two digits of a Telkom mobile number are usually 06 or 07
