Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup elbow macaroni
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 jar of spaghetti sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Basil leaves for garnish

Instructions:

Step 1: Cook the macaroni

In a large pot, cook the elbow macaroni according to the package directions until they are al dente. Drain the macaroni and set it aside.

Step 2: Prepare the meat sauce

In a large skillet or saucepan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it is no longer pink. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic cloves and continue cooking until the onions are translucent.

Add the spaghetti sauce, ground black pepper, and salt to the skillet. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

Step 3: Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 4: Assemble the lasagne

Take a 9x13 baking dish and begin assembling the lasagne. First, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the dish. Add a layer of cooked macaroni on top of the sauce. Then spread out a layer of ricotta cheese. Sprinkle some shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the ricotta layer. Repeat this process until you’ve used all of the ingredients, ending with a layer of meat sauce on top.

Step 5: Bake the lasagne

Cover the dish with foil and place it in the oven. Bake for about 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese on top. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Take the lasagne out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with some fresh basil leaves and enjoy!

Tips:

  • If you want to save some time, you can use store-bought spaghetti sauce instead of making your own.
  • You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of ground beef for a healthier option.
  • If you prefer a spicier lasagne, you can add some red pepper flakes or chili powder to the meat sauce.
